Our story begins back in 2017 when the company’s principal officer was approached to be a business consultant for the East African country of Madagascar. At that time, the country of Madagascar was looking to launch a country wide initiative focusing on workforce development of the small farmers. This presented a wonderful opportunity to learn about the people of Madagascar and the local economy. During one of the planning calls for this country wide initiative, vanilla was introduced as being a major export commodity that was highly sought after all around the world. However, most small farmers do not speak English throughout the country, and therefore have a difficult time of selling vanilla and other precious commodities to the global market.
These serious economic problems that the small farmers faced in Madagascar, led to the formation of Sharp Global Solutions in 2018. The company’s goal was to create long-term and lasting relationships with the small farmers, to assist them with promoting and selling their goods to the global economy. Due to unforeseen delays, the discussions and planning for the work force development initiative took about 3 years to come to fruition.
Unfortunately, once things were finally in place to get started in February of 2020, the global pandemic hit, which presented several challenges with the global supply chain that negatively impacted the company’s start-up capabilities. During this unprecedented time for the global economy, the company’s principal officer, maintained financial support for some of the farmers and local workers in Madagascar to ensure they were able to have a place to stay and food to eat. Even though the country wide initiative fell through, Sharp Global Solutions made sure to uphold the company’s mission of sustaining and empowering our workers in Madagascar through financial support, even though the company did not generate any revenue.
The principal officer of the company was finally able to make his first visit in April of 2022 after the Covid-19 travel restrictions were lifted. During this trip, he was able to establish a vast network of trusted partners through out Madagascar to grow, source, and market agricultural commodities that meet client specifications and optimize value chain. We are excited at the opportunity to work with you!
